Ignite Your Potential: 
Strong Welds, Stronger Healthcare

Join us for our third annual Metal Mania competition at the Fort Atkinson campus.

This free event is open to the public and offers fun for all ages:

  • Compete or watch as teams create healthcare-themed sculptures from scrap metal.
  • Tour the campus, participate in hands-on activities and meet Madison College's mascot, Wolfie.
  • Learn about our Metal Fabrication, Welding and Nursing programs during the open house.
  • Visit our onsite job fair to explore careers in healthcare and the skilled trades.
  • Enjoy free food and refreshments.

Metal Fabrication / Welding Art Competition 

Artists aged 15+ are invited to participate in the competition as part of a four-person team. Here’s how it works:

  • Each team will fabricate and weld scrap metal into a work of art inspired by this year's theme: Ignite your Potential: Stronger Welds, Stronger Healthcare.
  • Teams have from 9 am – 3:30 pm to create their sculptures and present them to the judges.
  • All submitted sculptures will become the property of Madison College.
  • Cash prizes are awarded to the winning teams:
    • $1,000 for first place
    • $500 for second place
    • $250 for third place
  • New for 2025! All sculptures will be up for bidding in a silent auction. Proceeds will benefit students in the Metal Fabrication and Welding programs at Fort Atkinson.
  • The application deadline is Friday, September 19.

  • Enjoy a free lunch courtesy of Alter Metal Recycling and Culver’s.
  • Learn about our Metal Fabrication and Welding programs and watch those skills in action during the competition.
  • Try your own welds with hands-on demos.
  • Meet Nursing program faculty and students and explore our cutting-edge simulation lab.
  • Get an up-close look at emergency-response vehicles, including an ambulance and a UW Health MedFlight helicopter.
